This tool will generate the .htpasswd file for HTTP Basic Authentication, used for restricting access to files and folders under the Apache environment. Unlike many other online "htpasswd" tools, our tool generates password files compatible with both Unix and Windows systems.

Enter the desired username, password, and password verification to use in the generated file. After clicking "Generate!" save the generated file to disk. Usually, the name .htpasswd is used but can be different.

Password strength:
No password
This tool requires passwords with at least seven characters since shorter passwords would compromise security. It also shows your password strength. The really "strong" passwords should not be any dictionary words and should contain both lowercase and capital letters, numbers and special characters, and be ten characters or longer.
