Why did you delete this file if 7 days since tagging hasn't passed? Original uploader is active on Estonian Wikipedia and was notified, so there is a good chance that we'll have explicit source information by Thursday. Pikne 13:27, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Uploader found it suitable to remove the problem tag without adding source information. Jcb (talk) 13:31, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I don't think this justifies ignoring the 7 day deadline set in deletion policy. I now notice your warning to original uploader. Indiminating warning in place of guidance on how to provide proper source information does not seem healthy at all. Not to mention it's hard to provide this information now that file is deleted ahead of time. Pikne 13:48, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Nope, we are not going to babysit the problem tags. This user is not a newby, they have almost 9k edits. Simply removing a problem tag is very disruptive. The admins are busy enough without such behaviour. Jcb (talk) 13:55, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Then just revert the tag removal. Ignoring the 7 day deadline is still a policy violation.
Also, it may very well be that among other edits user just haven't dealt with {{own}} declarations directly in wikitext (rather than via upload form) and doesn't know what exactly do we want from him. Pikne 14:09, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No, they just removed the tag, nothing more. And they have spent more than sufficient time at our projects to know that this is not accepted behaviour. And reverting tag removal is rather pointless, because most of the time this results in an edit war with the uploader and also we have better things to do than keeping track of files where an uploader tries to prevent deletion by removing the problem tag. Jcb (talk) 14:13, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Having dealt with similar issues on Estonian Wikipedia over years, I know that not all people get simple instructions equally well and it's necessary to be more patient with some people.
Anyway, I'll take this to undeletion requests then. Pikne 14:17, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, thanks a lot for wanting to waste the time of even more people over this. Jcb (talk) 14:32, 1 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Deletion of Xxxx01_-_Peter_Worsley_Oceania_gold_medal_-_3b_-_edited.jpg

I uploaded this image to Wikimedia Commons using the upload template that I have used for literally hundreds of images that have been licensed through the Australian Paralympic history project. I have just noticed today that you have removed this image from Commons. I have also just noticed that you have deleted another image. Can you please explain how these images have been any different to the many other images I have uploaded and what changes I need to make to re-load them so that they can be used in WP articles? Thank you! --Tony.naar (talk) 06:18, 3 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You did not add a license. You were notified about this at your user talk page, but in the week that followed you still did not add a license. Jcb (talk) 14:35, 3 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Albacore submarine

File:Sous-marin Albacore soufflerie Langley.jpg

Hello Jcb. This Picture of the Albacore is not a personnal work. Its source is the NACA, obviously. I only crop it. In fact I don't know how to do in such a case (cropping a Royalty-free picture) but I would like to learn ! By now, I am far from my house and of my computer, and with a very poor access to Internet. I will take care of that problem in some days but it is possible the fateful date will be passed. I specified some informations on the file. Another picture of the NACA is possible : https://npgallery.nps.gov/GetAsset/2d6108b0-4ef6-4151-a5f5-5a646bf24bed, but it is less beautiful and educational. Friendly, --Bernard de Go Mars (talk) 17:23, 3 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Bernard de Go Mars: I removed the deletion template so you may have time to indicate proper source and license. If you need help, just ask. -- Ariadacapo (talk) 18:24, 3 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Merci Ariadacapo ! Amicalement, --Bernard de Go Mars (talk) 19:36, 3 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I have tried to trace the image back to a NASA source, but I could not find it. Proper source and license information must be provided. I have started a regular DR, that may give you some more time than a no source tag, but as long as this is not fixed, it's inevitable that the file is nominated for deletion. Jcb (talk) 20:02, 3 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Everything is alright ! Bernard de Go Mars (talk) 20:46, 8 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, thanks! Jcb (talk) 20:50, 8 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

My maps

Did you look at what you deleted? Here's the timeline for File:United States Central map 1780-03-00 to 1780-10-25.png:

  • August 28: Castillo blanco (talk · contribs) adds a no-source notice dated August 28.
  • August 28: I add a source.
  • September 3: Castillo blanco readds the notice WITH THE DATE OF AUGUST 28.
  • September 4: You delete it.

You have erred in deleting these four maps; I would undo it were I not the one who made them. I insist they be undeleted, as Castillo blanco's tagging was out of process and very poor form, and we were still discussing the matter. --Golbez (talk) 16:52, 4 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Request made here: Commons:Undeletion_requests/Current_requests#Files_uploaded_by_Golbez --Golbez (talk) 16:57, 4 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
As I explained that COM:UDR and at User talk:Castillo blanco, not Castillo was at fault. You removed a problem tag from some of your own uploaders without resolving the problem. That was out of process. Jcb (talk) 20:40, 4 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The problem was resolved, the files are my own work. That they relied in some basic sense on public domain maps of non-copyrightable geography does not change that. You want me to go back ten years and find what public domain representation of non-copyrightable information I used, and source that? No, that's nonsense. --Golbez (talk) 21:38, 4 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Golbez: I want you to be honest in the source information. You claim own work, which is not true. Jcb (talk) 14:27, 5 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
By your requirements, nothing counts as own work here. Everything in history is derivative of something else. --Golbez (talk) 14:41, 5 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You admitted yourself that you traced these maps from existing maps. If you don't tell so in the source field, you are lying. Jcb (talk) 14:49, 5 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've opened a discussion at COM:VPC. --Golbez (talk) 15:07, 5 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Continuing over here: So he places the template, I add a source, and then seven days later the file gets deleted regardless of the template being there? So one person - Castillo blanco - gets to decide if my file is valid? My opinion is irrelevant? Cool, cool. So the template states, "While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright." Since it is well established by COM:DW that maps of this type aren't copyrightable, the copyright status was 100% clear. The template was placed incorrectly, and you acted on it without even paying attention to what you were doing. --Golbez (talk) 13:18, 6 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Golbez: The point is, you did not add source information but you removed the tagging anyway. If by tomorrow the source fields do not contain at least a discription of what you did (tracing of PD map), then I will nominate the files for deletion. You could do this in five minutes instead of wasting hours of the time of several people. Jcb (talk) 16:32, 6 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Pardon, I did add a source. Previously, there was no source at all. I added one - they are self-made. That you think that's insufficient doesn't change the fact that I added a source, and that the marking of them as derived material - despite the template specifying that the reason for this is because of copyright - was incorrect. --Golbez (talk) 17:43, 6 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Fix the files. Jcb (talk) 21:42, 6 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

If some of your uploads are detected copyright violation and the rest is web resolution without metadata, we are deleting the whole batch per precautionary principle. Username page

Hi. I was wondering why you deleted the page User:Pbroks13? Thanks. Pbrks (talk) 12:40, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's a broken link that appears in our maintenance reports. If you choose to have your user page loaded from Meta, an eventual redirect has to be at Meta as well. Jcb (talk) 12:43, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ah, I see. So it is not possible to have links from my old username go to my new username unless I manually change the links or have a local username page? Pbrks (talk) 13:06, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I created a redirect at Meta. That should work locally at Commons as well, but I cannot yet see it, so maybe some cache needs to be updated first in the next few hours. Jcb (talk) 13:17, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I wouldn't think that a redirect on meta would redirect locally on other wiki sites. If it does, that's awesome; if not, I'll just make a local page here and readd the redirect, no big deal. Thanks for your help! Pbrks (talk) 13:20, 7 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello Jcb,

you deleted this file because there was "No OTRS permission for 30 days". I see an OTRS permission was apparently received, because Krdbot added {{OTRS received}} on August 10th.

But why would one need an OTRS permission for this image? The photo was taken by the uploader himself, and it shows an old castle, not anything protected by copyright. So a permission for what exactly? Is there something in the OTRS (which I can't access)? Regards --Rosenzweig τ 12:16, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I can't access the ticket either, so I don't know what is in the ticket. Looks like something for the OTRS Noticeboard. Jcb (talk) 14:49, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I see you already posted the question there, thanks. Let's wait for a reply then. --Rosenzweig τ 17:05, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

File:BeechwoodKMS4580-e1533206440813.jpg

Hi @Jcb: I realise I apparently put an incorrect public domain tag on this file https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BeechwoodKMS4580-e1533206440813.jpg. But perhaps you could help me. The file at SMK permits me to download it (provided I download from the Danish version) and if you read the English translated version of the page (https://www.smk.dk/en/highlight/a-beech-wood-in-may-near-iselingen-manor-1857/) it clearly states that the image is in the public domain. Hoping you can help. MargaretRDonald (talk) 23:44, 12 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Please see here for existing PD tags. Jcb (talk) 00:05, 13 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have now used: {{PD-Art-two|country=Denmark|deathyear=1875}} If this is not correct, could you please correct it for me, so that I know what to do in future. MargaretRDonald (talk) 17:39, 13 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok, as far as I can see everything is fine now. I have removed the problem tag. Jcb (talk) 22:16, 13 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Why was this file deleted? I can't see any copyvio, if a jpg on Commons is reproduced as svg. See File:Freud-5.jpg and File:Freud Ich.svg. See as well de:Wikipedia:Fragen_zur_Wikipedia#Frage_zur_Löschung_auf_Commons. Grüße vom Sänger ♫ (talk) 09:53, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It was imported by @Mrmw: without license. Lately we are really flooded with careless fileimports, sometimes hundreds of new files cluthering our problem categories in one day. So if it looks like a copyvio at first sight it will probably be deleted with as much (lack of) attention as the import took place. The file needs to be licensed properly within 7 days or it will be deleted again. Jcb (talk) 15:11, 14 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Proposition

Hello Jcb and Yann, I am currently less present on Commons as I am involved in a time consuming mediation on another project. Nevertheless, I just read about the escalation of a tension between the two of you at ANU. Here is a proposition : as I have some experience in similar matters and if you are both willing, I can try to help you work out a way of resolving your issues. No commitment. You can walk out any time. If you both agree and accept it, I will inform ANU. Cheers, — Racconish💬 09:37, 17 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Racconish: Why not? Everything else has been tried by now. Jcb (talk) 14:23, 17 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Jcb: noted. @Yann: what do you say? — Racconish💬 16:11, 17 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Jcb, Yann has informed me he does not think such a mediation is appropriate to what he perceives the problem to be. I leave it up to him to elaborate if, when and where he wishes. In any case, I deemed better to let you know myself. — Racconish💬 17:41, 18 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Deletion of official correspondence from MIVILUDES

I have a question about something I uploaded. I received an official letter from the Secretary General of MIVILUDES, a French Government Agency, ref. SB-MVL/2018A/2669. In France all such documents produced by the Government are in the public domain. Therefore I think it's permittable to add it to Wikicommons. I may have filled up the wrong box related to the copyright. Can you please tell me how to upload it properly. MireilleBernadac (talk) 20:24, 17 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I am not aware of that French Government works would be PD. The place to discuss this is COM:VPC. It the community agrees with you, somebody will have to create a corresponding license template. Jcb (talk) 20:34, 17 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
We do have {{PD-JORF}} and {{PD-JORF-nor-conso}}, both of which apply to legal texts that were published before in the Journal officiel de la République Française. However, I didn't know that all governmental documents of France including correspondence were PD. So this should perhaps get wider attention at VPC. the gouvernment documents in France including correspondence are public domain as per law 17-July-1978 http://www.coordiap.com/enq-6229-sectes-acces-document-administratif-cap-lc.htm

Don't do that. You are not allowed to reupload deleted content. Please discuss this at COM:VPC. If the community agrees with you, somebody will have to create a corresponding license template. The album cover for Liz Phair

Hi! I noticed that you recently deleted an album cover for the album Liz Phair, which I had uploaded. I wanted to upload the image since I think that there is a rule that album covers with parental advisories should generally be avoided if a version without the P/A exists.

Now, when the image was deleted, I was in the process of updating the image's description with the help of this template: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Non-free_use_rationale_album_cover

Whenever I would click on "Show preview", the page looked... broken, I think. No table with the necessary information appeared on the page. I'm not exactly sure what I did wrong, so I wanted to ask you if you have any information that could help me make the template "work"? I apologize for the awkward wording, but I have no idea how to describe this.

Thanks! EnjoyingMyProblems (talk) 19:42, 19 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Undeletion

Hi! You deleted a bunch of pictures I uploaded to Commons (for example) that were in the Category:Photographs from davecskatingphoto.com with OTRS pending, without notifying me. All the pictures from this website are actually covered byt the ticket 2008012510003504, whose number I linked on the pictures. Only an OTRS can then change the authorization (I asked @Kvardek du: to do it for weeks but they seem to have computer problems). Can you please undelete all these pictures, which are actually OTRS-approved? Thank you very much. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 12:59, 20 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That's practically all the pictures that were in Category:No OTRS permission since 10 September 2019, hundreds of them... --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 13:10, 20 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I see no new messages in the ticket that could have triggered any action by an OTRS agent. Generic permissions need a permission template or a message should be sent after each upload, otherwise the files won't get approved. I will see if something can be arranged. Jcb (talk) 15:02, 20 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I actually discovered Template:Davecskatingphoto.com only today (when I found the duplicate category and merged it). Would it work? An OTRS (Kvardek du) confirmed to me very clearly that all the pictures from this website can be uploaded and I spend hours working on the pictures you deleted without even warning me. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 15:33, 20 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You uploaded the files with {{OTRS pending}}, this is a delayed deletion nomination that will always lead to deletion if nothing happens. For new uploads please use {{Davecskatingphoto.com}} instead of OTRS pending. I will see if I can sort this out, but probably not today. Jcb (talk) 15:39, 20 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Yoda

Hi!

You deleted only one week after they were proposed the pictures in Commons:Deletion requests/Files in Category:Yoda. Some of these pictures should not be deleted, like File:Exposição no Museu de Astronomia e Ciências Afins no Rio 03.jpg which was taken in Brazil or in Portugal (I can't know where exactly, the picture is deleted) where the freedom of panorama is allowed for 3D artwork which was the case here. Please put these pictures back, and please do not delete them only one week after they are proposed (I was in vacation when they were proposed and deleted, I could not do anything...).

The user Yuraily Lic only does deletion requests, but he does a very bad work and he does not check if the freedom of panorama can be applied, he just put the same sentence in every request "COM:DW of copyrighted character." like a robot... He does too many deletion resquests, I can't check every request to see if the pictures are good or not, if the freedom of panorama can be applied or not. It is his job when he does a deletion request and yours when you delet the pictures. But none of you did their job for the files in the Yoda's category.

Something needs to be done, Yuraily Lic must be stopped, and the administrators who work on his deletion requests must be vigilant by checking every pictures he proposed.

Regards, --Cody escadron delta (d) 14:27, 21 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Freedom of panorama normally only applies in public space. This picture seems to have been taken inside a building and probably not in a public place as meant by the applicable laws. Jcb (talk) 10:47, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sorry to hear of your desysop,

You were a fantastic admin and certainly didn't deserve to be desysopped especially over something so silly, Commons is now certainly a lot worse with out you,

Thank you for your admin actions and contributions here and thank you for using your tools to help me (You helped me a lot and I will be forever grateful),

If you ever ran for RFA in the near future I would happily support you,

Anyway I hope you continue to edit here as admin or no admin your contributions are still appreciated here,

Take care, –Davey2010Talk 19:33, 26 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thank you!

During your long tenure as admin from 2010 until recently (with a break from 2011 to 2013) with more than half a million admin actions you were one of the most active admins. I would like to thank you for this major contribution to Wikimedia Commons. We were very fortunate to have your support. While a workload of this gives naturally ground for criticism and while not all interactions were exactly graceful, I found the end of your adminship not really fair and just. Nonetheless, I hope that you remain with us and I would be optimistic that a rerun for adminship after some time could be successful. It worked before. All the best, AFBorchert (talk) 14:13, 28 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Most of the community, even Yann, is well aware that what happened is not just, so why did it happen then? Almost all of you are fully aware that I did not abuse the admin buttons and that I have always used them in a conscientious way. Also many of you are well aware that Yann has been bullying me for several years (and it's obvious from their own RFdA that I am not the only victim) and that they did abuse the admin buttons for that. For the past three years I have actively avoided any interaction with Yann as much as possible, but Yann has looked for confrontation on purpose many times, as e.g. is clearly visible here. Now they have been rewarded by the community for their bullying, they will feel even stronger in their destructive behaviour. A community that is allowing this to happen has a serious integrity problem. As long as the community does not deal with that, I don't understand how you could expect me to start contributing again. Deletion of: File:Image of Martha Hart.jpg

Hi, I noticed that this photo was taken down again. The comment to why it was taken down was because there was "no OTRS permission since 31 August 2019". Previously, I had this photo uploaded and an email was sent by Martha Hart herself and the person who took the photo (Lubna A.) to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org giving permission, and allowing the photo to be used on wikipedia. I am not sure why it was taken down then, but when I asked the previous person who took it down, they never gave me an answer so I reuploaded it. Please let me know what is the best way to keep this photo uploaded on the commons. I feel that I have taken the necessary actions in the past but it keeps getting taken down and I find it very discouraging. Should I request for an undeletion or should I re-upload the photo and contact Martha Hart to send an email again? Thank you in advance for your help. --Kgywu (talk) 19:43, 7 October 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

  • To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
  • To perform file name swaps.
  • When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:35, 7 November 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Brown Dog query

Hi Jcb, I'm sorry, I asked this before and didn't follow up. It's about File:Brown Dog on plinth - Battersea Park - 2008-04-09.jpg. My recollection is that this was taken and released by Tagishsimon, who was the author, in 2008. It was being used in a featured article. When I asked you what the issue was, you said there had been no valid OTRS release, but why did it need one? The author uploaded and released it himself, as I recall. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at Wikimedia Commons.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Your deletions of the pictures of MV Werften

Good morning Johan,

you deleted *MVW_Wismar_kl.jpg*, *MVW_Rostock.jpg* and *MVW_Stralsund.jpg*. Yet there is a valid permission from the rights owner, see ticket 2019011110004171. After I noticed your first deletion, I wrote to permissions-de, and they restored the pictures. Then after a month, you deleted them again.

Please make sure that the pictures get restored and do not get deleted again.

Deletion of file: Penny_Pennington_portrait.jpg

Hi JCB, You deleted File:Penny Pennington portrait.jpg with the following URL: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Penny_Pennington_portrait.jpg on 9 June 2019, (for lack of OTRS permission for 30 days). Another permission letter was sent by the copyright owner which generated the following ticket number 2019112610011197. I am hoping you will be able to re-instate the picture back to Commons, with the appropriate permission tag so that the photo can be used on Penny Pennington's Wikipedia article. Thank you. Deletion of Penny Pennington portrait

Hi JCB, I hope this is not incorrect etiquette for giving you a little nudge to look into re-instating the picture mentioned in the following comment, which I am just copying and pasting from an above section. Deletion of artworks made by Hans Janssen

Hi there Jcb!

A while ago i uploaded three artworks made by Hans Janssen on Wikimedia. I made sure he sended the mail towards the OTRS-system and since then we've been waiting to get the ticket approved. The mail has been sent on 28-8-2019 by Hans Janssen himself. Maybe there is a misunderstanding, but could u collaborate why the picture got deleted? He got the ticketnumber: [Ticket#2019082810007089].

Restoring an image

Hello! I notice that you deleted an image (Los Shain's junto a Erwin Flores.jpg) which is free (permission) to use in the country Peru:

According to the Law 13714 (1961), under the administration of the Manuel Prado government, and article 4.3 of the Universal Copyright Convention this photograph entered the public domain in Peru before 1996 because it was taken and performed from negative to paper or similar before 31 December 1975 and was protected for 20 years from its first copy disclosed as of January 1 of the following year.
In the case of copies disclosed for first time since 1976 by other person, D.L. 822 (1996) establishes that the shots made before 31 December 1952 automatically enter the public domain, 70 years after their creation from January 1 of the following year. For more information see the Peru copyright page.

It is understood that simple photograph is when the author did not include exclusively for his/her literary or scientific work. Not apply for reproduction of copyrighted artistic work "of private domain" or documentary work . If the photo is assigned by a publisher, also photojournism, the exclusive rights of circulation by this one are for 5 years without extending the duration. Indicate the name of the author or owner of the photo is necessary with the date of publication.
Warining: D.L. 822 says that some works "enjoying the longest terms of protection recognized by this Law" but denies retroactivity for expired works. A template is necesary explaining why they are in the public domain in the United States.
Exceptions: those published for first time between 1976 and 1996 protection may vary, except those were not renewed in this year and URAA date of 1996 if: the owner was never known or did not carry the "prohibition of reproduction" tag for material published before 1981 (use {{PD-Peru-anonymous}} if required), unpublished media created before 1926 or material from an author who died before 1931 (use {{PD-Peru-1961law}} if required).

I understand that it was my mistake I was not permissive with the image not adding the corresponding template.

Since it is cleared please ask me to restore that image. Rolo Mai (talk) 18:17, 21 June 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, care to explain why Psycle Music Studio screenshot was deleted? Psycle is a free/open source music production app (GPL/public domain) and the image is an interface screenshot (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Psycle_Screenshot.png) captured by me. Hallo Jcb,

Besides that, Wikipedia is a non profit digital place whose porpuse is to share and disseminate? Please, replace the pictures.

You left me message five years ago saying that the file has no information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. However, I think I didn't upload this image and probably you noticed the wrong person. I cannot check its history. I might touch the description or something but I don't think I uploaded the image.

User:Corachow, who does amazing work on ballet articles on the EN wikipedia, asked me about the Flickr images https://www.flickr.com/photos/premsaliceu/25464967025/ and https://www.flickr.com/photos/premsaliceu/25438811316/. They're professional quality photographs of ballet dancers, but posted from the Flickr account for Premsa Liceu, which is the press office of the Liceu, a Barcelona opera house, 170 years old, and in every way a respectable organization, which I was willing to believe would own the rights to these photos. However she points out that you deleted at least this first one (I can't see it, I'm not an admin, just a Commons:License reviewer, but from the file name it seems very likely to have been this first one) with the comment Missing license as of 5 November 2016. They are licensed Public Domain Mark now. Were they not licensed that way in 2016, or are there some other issues that we aren't seeing? Are they all right for upload now? Thank you! --GRuban (talk) 14:39, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello, I just noticed that my request to delete this photo I uploaded was denied. The reason for nominating this image for deletion is that it of bad quality and not usable for informational or encyclopaedic purposes. It cannot be improved via editing and is not in use in any Wiki project. I have also not found the opportunity to shoot a better image.
